How To Test and Resolve Conflicts

Is your module broken or not behaving as per the configuration? Chances are there is a conflict. This article will help you troubleshoot the issue.

What is Conflict Testing?

When functionality issues occur, it’s no uncommon for the reason to be a conflict between Slider Revolution and a theme or another plugin.

For example, a theme might require an update in order to behave as expected, or a plugin might have a recent change that affects how it interacts with other plugins.

We often begin a support process by testing for conflicts. This is because:

  • It helps isolate the source of the issue.
  • Conflicts can be quick to solve, so we try to find you the simplest solution first.

Conflict Testing Process

Always back up your site before testing on a live environment.

Once you have backed up, proceed through the following tests.

Test 1: Updates

Step 1: Check for updates to WordPress, your theme, and all your plugins.

Step 2: Perform any available updates.

Step 3: Reload the page where you experienced the issue.

If the issue vanishes, the problem is solved! No further action is needed.

If the issue persists, proceed to Test 2.

Test 2: Deactivate Theme and Plugins

Step 1: Deactivate all plugins except Slider Revolution

Step 2: Switch to default theme such as Twenty Twenty-Four or Twenty Twenty-Five.

Step 3: Reload the page where you experienced the issue.

If the issue persists, no conflict exists. Reactivate your theme and plugins, and contact support for further assistance.

If the issue vanishes, a conflict exists. Proceed to Test 3 and identify the source.

Test 3: Check for Theme Conflict

Step 1: Reactivate your theme.

Step 2: Reload the page where you experienced the issue.

If the issue returns, it is related to your theme.

Contact support, with the name of the theme you identified, to let us know you found a conflict.

Test 4: Check for Plugin Conflict

Step 1: Reactivate a single plugin.

Step 2: Reload the page where you experienced the issue.

If the issue is still gone, activate the next plugin and repeat.

If the issue reappears, the last plugin you activated is part of the conflict.

Contact support, with the name of the plugin you identified, to let us know you found a conflict.
